The motivation behind my work comes from translating ideas, emotions and experiences into something visual and visceral. When confronted with subjects where exploration is crucial, writing starts the conversation. From the writing comes a narrative, a question, a dialogue. This requires the work to be constantly in progress, never static, commonly consisting of chaos. Painting, sculpture and sound are ways to connect with the sensual experiences of the physical world; film and writing are about inventing a world or communicating the details of an internal world. If the work makes me think or speak outside of my comfort zone, then it is effective. If it teaches me in the process, it is worth the effort. If it creates a connection that didn’t exist before, between people, places or emotional planes...
Only then do I consider it complete.
